Discovery of a Sarmatian Woman Burial in Poltava

Archaeologists Discovered a burial belonged to a Sarmatian woman in Poltava region, announced by Oleksandr Suprunenko, the director of the centre of protection and research of the archaeological monuments of the department of culture of the Poltava Regional State Administration, in Ukraine.

Number of artefacts were discovered alongside her, including a bronze mirror, a dagger and iron scissors as well as a unique silver brooch. Besides, an iron awl was stuck in the woman's head.

Sarmatians were a group of Iranian warrior nomads dominated in the Ukrainian steppes after collapse of the Scythian state.
